New Blog: New Meaning

This blog was originally started for school purposes, and that is all I have ever used it for, until now. From this point forward this blog has nothing to do with school. Just my life and my random ramblings. I don't know how often I'll post, or if I'll end up deleting this account in a month or two, but this is my official notice that anything before this date was for school. But now.... LET THE PARTY BEGIN!

Note: This really isn't that exciting to party about... just saying.

Warning: My opinions may or may not be the same as previous blogs I have posted.

Journal Entry 8: Chapter 12

Discuss what virtue's you think are the most admirable in today's world. Why do you think so? How many of these can you say you honestly practice?

My whole life I was taught that I was no better than anyone else, and I think somewhere that lesson was lost in a lot of people today. That lesson means you should always be honest, respectful, and nice to people. It really disgusts me when people judge someone for some small, idiotic reason. The one that's predominant around me, "oh, they don't read the Bible as much as I do, they must be incompetent and completely immoral." How does that even make sense in someone's head? I have no idea. The virtues of respect, honesty, and being kind I can definitely say I have. Those qualities are what make me, me.

Journal Entry 7: Chapter 11

Consider a brand that you prefer for a certain food, clothing, or other product. What made you choose that brand over others, and how would you describe that brand to someone considering it?

The Casio Commando. My smart phone is a "construction workers smart phone" because it's unbreakable. I picked it because I'm a little clumsy at times and it said it could be dropped off a four story building and not break, and it was water proof. Perfect! I always brag about it because it is indestructible and that's a quality that is definitely worth it. And when I try to explain to people I normally just tell them why I picked it, then throw it across the room to prove it. Then they typically think it's pretty cool too.

Journal Entry 6: Chapter 10

Most people do not like to watch a movie or read a book more than once or twice. However, people can often play the same video game for hours on end, repeating levels and characters. Why do you think this is so?

I'm one of those people that don't like to watch or read something more than once. It's just such a boring passive thing where you know exactly what's going to happen and you can't change it. However, with a video game, people can change little things. Sure, the ultimate goal is the same, but maybe they can kill the wizard with a sword this time instead of an arrow. The fact that it's not set in stone means anything can happen, and that's what people want; spontaneity.

Journal Entry 5: Chapter 8

Which would you consider more of a community, a discussion forum about a social issue or a game like Farmville? Why did you choose the one you did?

I'm not very active in either one, however, I do have friends who are active in both. I'm sure it varies from group to group, but it seems to me people are more connected when they talk about more serious issues, so I would say a discussion forum. However, if the discussion forum was a one topic forum, I would say Farmville, because it;s a very long term game, and I know my friends constantly talk about it with each other. So in the end I would say whichever one gives the people longer lengths of times to communicate together.

Journal Entry 4: Chapter 6

Some contend that secretly recording conversations or activities, even when the acts recorded occur in a public space, is a violation of privacy. State and defend your position on the matter.

First off, you're in a public space, not a private space. Kind of like social media, if you put it out there you're in a public domain. Obviously, I'm on the side that it's not a violation of privacy, if it's for government or police use. I don't think it should be illegal to record someone in a public place, but I do think it would be weird if some random guy recorded my conversation. However, if we're talking about police doing it, then of course. It would help keep us safe, and I just don't see the point in trying to make sure no one records someone. I mean, do you know how annoying that would be to never be able to record anything in public? You couldn't take a photo, video, or anything for fear of accidentally catching someone else in it. Obvious choice to me.

Journal Entry 3: Chapter 4

If you were an emerging artist starting to build a following of fans online, would you offer your songs for free download on your website? Why or why not? If not, what would you charge for your songs?

If I was an artist with fans online I think I would do kind of a mixture of the two. I would have a free sample of music, but not the full song, then probably charge anywhere from $.50-$1.00 per song. I think that let's the listeners test the song, but then it's not that expensive to download it, and hopefully lots of people would download, so the low cost wouldn't matter. It's still a business, and if I'm someone they never heard of, they're going to want to try it out.
